In our line of work its hard not to have a great day at work. Then, there are exceptional days… everything goes smoothly, you’re around good people, everyone is on time, no technical difficulties and you put out a great product at the end of the day. Then you skip all the way home. When you’re a photographer and you shoot a wedding like Matt and Francesca Gerfy’s you have an exceptional day at work.
Walking into Francesca’s hotel room at The Aria was like photographer Christmas. I remember looking over at Stephen, giddy, when I saw the blush colored bridesmaid dresses hanging on matching hangers. Then we took in the elements of the room; textured wallpaper, mirrors, a huge window with soft sunlight pouring in through a sheer drape. Walking in further I noticed all of the bridesmaids with full hair and makeup in pink button-ups with their monograms embroidered over the pocket. This bride pays attention to detail. Our Pinterest boards aligned and Stephen and I got to work. Which didn’t feel like work at all, if only I’d had a pink monogram shirt and a mimosa.
This day had the perfect combination of lighthearted fun between the couples family and friends and a very evident love for each other. One moment that sticks out is the gift Francesca received before the ceremony from Matt- it came with a handwritten letter from him that moved her to tears immediately – the rest of the room had trouble keeping it together as well!
One of my favorite hours of the day was the beautiful ceremony in the garden at Wedgewood (complete with baby’s breath bouquets at the beginning of each row of chairs) where we captured the most sincere exchange of expressions between the couple during Francesca’s walk down the aisle. Finally, rounding out the day of tender moments was the reception that included a slide show of the couple, a grand entrance to Turn Down For What by Lil Jon (a last minute addition) and a garter removal that went on my list of top five entertaining garter removals. What a privilege to be a part of they incredibly memorable day. The only thing left to say is….
You had to be there
